“We received an overwhelming amount of excellent nominations for the first year of this award,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. “Carol, however stood out in the nomination process due to her dedication to her company through implementing programs that promote growth through training and team empowerment and increase not only department, but company morale. She is extremely deserving of being the first ever ACCA Service Manager of the Year.”

Some of the programs that Grooms has put into place at her company include:

“I am extremly honored and humbled to receive the very first Service Manager of the Year award from ACCA,” said Grooms. “In my personal and professional life, I live by the quote, ‘Doing the right thing is always the right thing to do,’ which is why I have worked so hard to put these programs in place. My team is the best and they deserve my best in return.”

sleeping_couple.105654To celebrate the month of February, Carolina Comfort Air is spreading love to customers by offering exclusive savings on a product that helps keep your home safe. Protect yourself and family from the colorless killer with $30 off the installation of a Carbon Monoxide Detector.

What is Carbon Monoxide?
Did you know that carbon monoxide (CO) is a tasteless, odorless gas that is extremely toxic to people and animals? When inhaled, CO can cause harmful effects to your health and in some cases death.

How Can I Measure the Amount of CO in My Home?
Since carbon monoxide is impossible to see or taste, you may be unaware of the dangers in your home. Installing a carbon monoxide detector can help keep an eye on the levels in your home.

What Do CO Detectors Do?
CO detectors are devices that are designed to measure levels of carbon monoxide within your home. If the device detects a dangerous accumulation of CO, an alarm will sound to alert you. It is important to never ignore an alert from a CO detector. Instead, take the proper maintenance or repair measures to ensure your home ventilation system is sufficient.

Carbon Monoxide DetectorWhat are the Sources of CO?
Carbon monoxide can enter your home through space heaters, leaky furnaces, gas water heaters and stoves, equipment powered by gas, automobile exhaust and more. In order to control your home’s CO levels, proper maintenance of these products is strongly recommended.

At Carolina Comfort Air, our ultimate goal is to keep our customers happy and safe. Take advantage of the love from now until March 15 and get $30 OFF a Carbon Monoxide Detector install.

Heat pumps are commonly used as a cost effective method to heat a home efficiently.  A downside is that when systems malfunction it can go undetected until homeowners receive a high electric bill.

Heat pumps warm a house by using a refrigeration compressor system that absorbs heat outside and circulates it inside. When temperatures drop into the 30s, or the thermostat is adjusted 2 – 3 degrees, the supplemental strip heaters (or furnace if you are on a Dual Fuel Heat Pump system) will come on to raise the indoor temperature. This is normal operation. Should the compressor become inoperable, the supplemental heat will come on to maintain temperature.

This can go unnoticed because the system continues to warm the home and can drastically increase your electric bill. Two ways to identify your system is using electric coils are as follows: A very warm discharge of air or the auxiliary/ emergency heat indicator is illuminated on your thermostat.

The easiest way to avoid heat pump malfunction and an expensive electric bill is by having your pump regularly maintained. Carolina Comfort Air has several different options for maintenance, including specials and 3 levels of service agreements. Our current offer is a Fall Maintenance Special on up to two HVAC units or systems (expires on November 31, 2013). Learn more about our Current Specials or see the 3 Levels of Comfort Protection we offer.
