Last week we honored one of the greats—Mr. Charlie Keen—as he officially retires from Carolina Comfort Air.
Mr. Charlie’s connection to our founders goes back decades. Phillip Tyler met Mr. Charlie in 2003 when he worked as his mechanic helper, learning the ins and outs of the HVAC trade under his guidance. It was during this time that Phillip and Hank first met—two young men brought together by their growing passion for the trade. Hank had known Mr. Charlie long before then, having grown up friends with his sons and admiring him for years as both a skilled tradesman and a stand-up man. Mr. Charlie not only taught them the trade but also played a meaningful role in shaping the skills and work ethic that would later become the foundation of Carolina Comfort Air.
In 2011, we were fortunate to have Mr. Charlie officially join the Carolina Comfort Air family. With nearly 50 years of experience in the HVAC industry, he has been more than just a Mechanic and Supervisor—he’s been a mentor, teacher, and friend to so many. His calm presence, unmatched expertise, and dedication have left a lasting mark on everyone who’s had the privilege of working with him.
They say legends never truly retire—and that couldn’t be more fitting for Mr. Charlie. The man, the myth, the legend himself, his influence and legacy will continue to shape Carolina Comfort Air for years to come.
