Inspiring Future HVAC Professionals at the COW3 Event in Onslow County

On February 28, 2025, Carolina Comfort Air proudly participated in the Careers on Wheels, Wings, & Water (COW3) event at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC. This dynamic career fair provided 5th-grade students from Onslow County Schools a unique, hands-on experience to explore various career paths, including skilled trades like HVAC.

As a leading HVAC company in Onslow County, we were thrilled to introduce students to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry, highlighting the importance of skilled professionals in keeping homes and businesses comfortable year-round.

Bringing HVAC Careers to Life for Future Generations

At our interactive booth, students got a firsthand look at the tools and technology HVAC professionals use daily. Led by our Technical Trainer, Rick, we showcased engaging demonstrations designed to spark interest in HVAC careers and educate students about the industry’s real-world applications.

Here’s what students experienced at the Carolina Comfort Air booth:

1. Hands-On Thermostat & HVAC Controls Demonstration
   1. Students interacted with thermostats, learning how HVAC systems regulate indoor comfort and energy efficiency.
   2. They discovered the connection between smart home technology and modern heating and cooling solutions.

2. Thermal Camera Demonstration
   1. Using a thermal imaging camera, students saw how HVAC technicians identify temperature inconsistencies in homes.
   2. This demonstration highlighted the importance of heat loss detection, energy efficiency, and system performance.

3. Inspection Camera Exploration
   1. An inspection camera was placed inside flexible ductwork, allowing students to see how professionals inspect air ducts for cleanliness and functionality.
   2. This hands-on activity emphasized the role of HVAC maintenance in improving indoor air quality.

By connecting classroom concepts like engineering, physics, and environmental science to real-world HVAC applications, we helped students envision an exciting future in the skilled trades.
